Three Penjamin lines use rosin: the 0.5G live rosin pen, the NPL Edition and Penjamin’s Pucks, which are labeled 2G single sourced live rosin. So what is single-source live rosin? Here is the plain-English version.
Rosin: pressed, not washed in solvents
Most extracts are made by washing plant material with a solvent and then removing the solvent. Rosin skips that: it is made with only heat and pressure. That is why rosin is called solventless, and why people who care about flavor tend to look for it.
Live: fresh-frozen starting material
Live means the plants were frozen right after harvest instead of being dried and cured. Freezing keeps more of the aromatic compounds that give each cut its smell and taste, so live products usually taste brighter and closer to the original plant.
Single-source: one origin
Single-source means the material comes from one source rather than a blend of many. The benefit is consistency: a single-source batch tastes like one thing instead of an average of several. It is a label you will see on the Penjamin’s Pucks listings.
What does 90u to 120u mean?
The NPL Edition label lists 90u to 120u. That is a micron range: the size of the screen used to collect the resin heads before pressing. A tight micron range like this is often used for higher-grade rosin. You do not need to remember the number; it is simply printed on the pack.

Rosin vs liquid diamonds
The Penjamin 2G uses liquid diamonds instead and holds four times as much as a 0.5G pen. If you want flavor first, choose rosin; if you want the biggest fill for the money, choose the 2G. Our 2G vs 0.5G guide goes deeper.
